I am slow. Everybody knows it.

Farmboy fans –

It has been a while until I put up my concerts on the Farmboy Music schedule board here.  Boy, has it been busy!  I try to keep up, but things are crazy here on the Hatzenbuhler farm.  Calving took a lot longer than usual — that’s the last time I let Emma talk me into hiring a midwife for the cows — and that didn’t help, either.  That plus my new teaching job (I teach Driver’s Education at the high school now, but on cars, not on tractors) means it has been really busy!  The county agent isn’t this busy; even that year he had to print his own brochures, he wasn’t this busy.

Anyway, I’m catching up on things here.  We’ve been busy with field work.  It’s supposed to rain for a couple of days, and maybe if I can’t be out on the tractor I can catch up on the website.  I’ll be in Nebraska, and Montana, and Minnesota, and SouDakota, and all over NorDakota this summer — even back in Medora for some shows!  Watch for the schedule, and come see me this summer!

Big concert for August 21!

I had a great day today at the Buckstop Junction by Bismarck. The Missouri Valley Hysterical Society held a big Flea Market and Corn Feed, and I was the special featured detraction! There were other musical acts there today: a polka band, a ragtime piano player, and that guy Bauman (he follows me around everywhere) sang songs at the church service. I was the big draw, though — well, me and the corn — and I had a huge crowd for my rock star show at the Lewis Hotel ballroom. Standing room only!
Buckstop Junction is a great place to visit. The Hysterical Society moved a bunch of buildings in from other places to make their own pioneer village. Almost every building is over 100 years old; it’s just like most of the towns in the next county.
The wheat harvest is done, and we’re already planning for spring planting next year. I’m rehearsing my backup band too; we’re getting ready for the next recording session! It’s too early to set a date for when we go into the studio, but the wheels are in motion! Watch here for more news!

I luff NorDakota summers

I had a great show in Plaza, NorDakota last night, for the 100th Anniversary of the Plaza-Makoti Elevator.  A big crowd showed up for a steak fry, the annual meeting, and my big hit rockstar concert.  We were outside, in the Plaza City Park, and the weather was perfect!  Thanks to Myron Jepsen and all the elevator staff for all the organizing they did.  On the drive home I saw one deer, and a sunset pretty enough to be on a calendar.

Sunday I hit the road for three shows; I’ll be in Cooperstown, Fargo, and McLeod.  I as hoping Emma could come along and help me buy a new pair of overalls in Fargo (there’s a store that stocks my size), but she’s busy with the cafe this weekend; she’s running a special dinner, and for dessert she’s serving red velvet cupcakes made with beets.  Don’t miss it!

Crazy summer!

Farmboy Fans —

What a summer it is has been!  It’s been rock concerts and thunderstorms for six weeks!  I’ve almost forgotten how to farm this summer, but I sure have been busy on the rock star tour circuit, and we sure have been busy with the weather!

Hailstones big enough to bust windows we’ve had.  With one of the storms we had hailstones the size of beets.  My pickup got clobbered in the hail, but it looks like most of the hail landed in dents that were already there from last summer’s bad hailstorm, so the dents that were already there got deeper, but there was no new ones.

We had one powerful thunderstorm first thing this week, and it made some trouble.  After that storm the computer still worked, and we could still connect with websites, but the television and the phones were out!  So, it was nothing but net.
That storm came in three parts!  We got a lot of rain in the evening, then more rain in the middle of the night, and then more the next morning.  Rain on the installment plan!  I’m used to getting parts for the combine like that, but not thunderstorms.

June was real busy with concerts.  I started out the month in Nebraska, then I had eight different rock concerts in Bismarck and Mandan, and I closed out the month with a big program for the centennial of the Ludern church in Mercer!  I didn’t have a concert for Independence Day, and that was okay, because we needed the rest.

Check my schedule for rock concerts in July.  I’ll be covering lots of NorDakota!
