We're all sick on the farm.

Mylo Hatzenbuhler - Thursday, January 02, 2014

Farmboy fans --
Happy New Year from the Hatzenbuhler farm -- and don't come visiting, because we all have that flu bug.  It started Christmas Eve -- Beulah got it first, and then Emma, and now it's my turn.   We've all been achey and sore, and coughing a lot.  The last time I felt this way was during calving, but that wasn't because I had the flu.  Calving always gets a guy feeling that way.
It's a quiet month on the rock star tour circuit, which is probably just as well, what with this cold weather.  Lieber Zeit, she was cold outside!  I think Congress must have passed a law making NorDakota part of Alaska.  What with all the oil we're making now, that was probably an easy mistake to make. ... About that drawing of me --

Mylo Hatzenbuhler - Wednesday, December 18, 2013
If you can't read it -- the button on my cap says "Heifer nice day."  The cows looks a lot like Evangeline, one of my best milkers, and I'm holding in my hand a 'moo' canister, chust like the one I keep on my desk.  Did Angel sneak onto my farm to do research?  Thanks again, Angel -- what a great surprise for Christmas!

I'm famouser than ever!!

It's been fun in the Big City

Mylo Hatzenbuhler - Thursday, October 24, 2013

Ja, this is Emma on Thursday, still visiting my sister in the Twin Cities.  People drive too fast here! and they drive too many cars! I wouldn't feel safe living here.  Everywhere you go there is traffic from one side of the road to the other -- it's like the whole city is a Legion baseball field and the game just let out.  I feel sorry for any cows that get loose around here.
We watched the television tonight.  They have 97 channels of tv.  We counted.  That's too many!  You can't even watch something long enough to decide it's not worth watching.
My sister is trying to take me to every shopping mall in the Twin Cities.  We've been to 14 of them already and I think that's about enough of that.  They all have the same stores with the same dresses or shoes....if I wanted to see the same thing over and over, I'd go with Mylo to the livestock auction.
I might head home tomorrow.  Mylo really misses me.  On the phone tonight he told me he milked all the cows an extra time today, just for the company.

Ja, I'm done once.

Still visiting in the Big City.

Mylo Hatzenbuhler - Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Ja, this is Emma yet, writing my blob on Mylo's fancy website.  One of these days I suppose I'll have to leave here and head back to the farm.  I know Beulah misses me, and Mylo called to say he broke the can opener.  I don't want him to starve.
Today was a busy day.  The sister and I went to the Mall of America to see all the stores, and in the middle of the Mall they have carnival rides.  Guess we got there when the county fair was going.  I never could find the 4H building, though.
That mall place sure is big -- over 400 stores in there.  We don't have that many in all of Emmons County.  I wanted to get a shopping bag from every store, but some of the places wanted me to have to buy something first.  They sure are picky...
I found a farm store and bought Mylo a new pair of overhauls, but I don't know if he'll like them.  Farm stores just aren't the same; instead of a hammer pocket on the leg, these overhauls have a cup holder. ... Click for More

Ja, Emma reporting again

Mylo Hatzenbuhler - Saturday, October 19, 2013

I'm still in the Twin Cities, visiting my sister.  (This is still Emma.)  Mylo's back on the farm.  He took the pickup on tour to Iowa, he's home again now.  He said on the phone how much they loved him, and how much Iowa smells like pigs.
My sister and I fixed a fancy breakfast for the whole family this morning -- I made my special beet pancakes -- then we drove to this farm to visit a corn maze.  Corn mazes must be a lot of fun for city folks, but we farm wives see plenty of corn as it is, and I don't need anyone putting me in the middle of a field of corn and telling me which way to walk.   I stayed in the gift shop. ... Ja, dis is Emma

Mylo Hatzenbuhler - Friday, October 18, 2013

Dis is Emma again.  I'm still in the Twin Cities, visiting my sister.  I declare, they are goofed up around here!  Nobody gets up until about seven in the morning; half the day is gone by then!  I was up at 4:00, as usual, and with no cows to milk I had a lot of time on my hands.  I knitted 3 afghans, and I baked bread.
My sister took me out on the town today.  We went out to a restaurant for lunch -- my sister said it was a Mexican restaurant, but my taco didn't even have sauerkraut in it, so I don't think it was authentic.  Then she took me shopping.  We went to six different clothing stores, but I didn't buy anything.  You can't do chores in those clothes.
Finally my sister took me to that IKEA store.  She sure talked a lot about that place.  There's nice furniture and such, but it turns out they just sell you a big box, and you have to put the furniture together yourself.  I'd like to see the John Deere dealer try pulling that stunt like that.
We're going to a corn maze tomorrow.  I put the butter and salt in my purse already. ... Click for More
