It's been a big week on the Hatzenbuhler farm. The weather has been warm, and the wheat harvest is chust around the corner. Got the combine all ready for field work, put my orange road construction cones out so I'd know where to drive (those help me keep the speed down, too) and our daughter Beulah is ready for another harvest behind the wheel of the grain truck. She's 9 now, and this will be her fourth year driving for harvest; and since her growth spurt this spring she only needs one phone book on the seat! (For a couple of years there we couldn't look up any phone numbers until the harvest was finished.)
I don't like to brag, but .... today (August 16) is my birthday! Emma had a little party for me today -- what with all the detention I get giving concerts, we like to keep things low-key at home -- and it was a real nice time! Emma had a real nice plaque made, with pictures of all five of my rock star albums. It's going to look great in the pickup, right over the gun rack.
I'm on tour Saturday, August 17, for the centennial whoop-de-do in Rosholt, SouDakota. Rosholt is south of Wahpeton, NorDakota, chust over the border, and chust east of I-29. They have a stage on Main Street, and I go on at 3:30. You should make the trip and come to see me! TIP: If you're coming from NorDakota, allow extra time to get through Customs. See you there!
